Visa Requirements Travel to, from and within Myanmar is strictly controlled by the Government. All travellers are required to show their passports with valid visa at airports, train stations and hotels as well as at frequent security checks on all major roads. This also applies to internal flights. Upon entry into Myanmar, tourists are required to exchange a minimum of $200 (U.S.) for Foreign Exchange Certificates (FEC), with the face value of the FEC's equal to the U.S. dollar. Any amount over $200 may be exchanged back to U.S. dollars but the first $200 remains as FEC's. Essentially your trip to Myanmar will cost a minimum of $200. Entry requirements and other information can be obtained from the Embassy of the Union of Myanmar in your home country. As travel policy changes frequently, it is advisable to check before handing over any money to the Burmese authorities. Prices for visas vary from country to country. |
